The Goodpasture football team will get
a chance to play against some of Kentucky's top programs in 2011 and
2012. The school has signed contracts to
play in the J.A.C.D. Inc. High School Football Classic in Louisville,
Ky.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, Goodpasture
will open the classic against Louisville Central, which won the Class 3A
title in 2007 and 2008.
In 2012, Goodpasture will play Paducah-Tilghman.
The games will be played at Papa John's
Cardinal Stadium, the home of University of Louisville football.
Goodpasture Coach David Martin said
Goodpasture haven't been involved in an event of this magnitude.
"It's going to be fantastic for our
young men to play in that environment," Martin said.
Goodpasture has won three Class 2A titles, most
recently in 2001.
Riverdale is a four-time Class 5A champion, most recently in 2004. St. Xavier is a 12-time state champion, having won in classes 3A-6A, and is the defending champion in 6A, the largest classification for football. "It will be good exposure for the school and the program," Riverdale Coach Ron Aydelott said. "There is an unknown factor of playing on a Saturday. It throws your work week off, especially for the next week." J.A.C.D. Inc. is an events coordination and marketing company. Riverdale will play Kentucky private school power St. Xavier in the final game of the classicin 2011. Riverdale likely will play Louisville Ballard in 2012.
